Visitors to the club are welcome
You should be aware that airfields can be dangerous places for the unwary.
Please take time to read these instructions and if you are unsure about
anything then please ask. Please print this page and the attached
map. They will be useful when you come to the airfield.
- When you arrive on the airfield please keep to the perimeter track
and make your way either to the launch point, if we are flying, or
the control tower. This
map of the airfield for visitors by road will help. You can find
the launch point (it varies with the wind) by looking for a double
decker bus which is our contol vehicle. If it's not visible from the
gate you will have to turn left. When at the launch point please speak
to any club member who will be able to help you.
- Do not walk or drive in front of any aircraft or glider landing
or taking off. Keep a good lookout at all times as aircraft may
land on any part of the airfield from any direction. Once committed
to land, gliders may be unable to avoid you!
- Keep children and dogs under close supervision at all times.
- Do not approach the propellers of powered aircraft even when the
aircraft engine is stationary.
- Visitors are forbidden to use any of the clubs mechanical equipment.
- Do not walk or drive on the runways. They may have virtually
invisible cables travelling at up to 60mph!
- Most motor insurance policies do not cover vehicles when on an
airfield. Visitors should be very careful when driving as the
club cannot accept responsibility for any accident or incident involving
visitors motor vehicles.
Thank you for reading these notes.
