UFOs flying over Cirencester
August 30th, 00:47So the party went off great, most of the pilots had managed to get back to AD in time. We had fantastic food thanks to our catering team. We also got to witness the launching of around six flying lanterns which drifted off once launched in an easterly direction, no doubt causing the people downwind to think Cirencester was being invaded by UFOs.
There was also a raffle in aide of I.T. Schools Africa who kindly loaned us some computers for the comp. We raised £126.62 which is enough to refurbish and ship out two and a half computers to Africa. An additional two computers (for refurbishing) were donated by Matt Cook's friend Alex. Raffle prizes ranged from a meal for two, to a marrow (actually a large courgette) that one of our returning pilots brought back from his landout.
Prizes were donated by:
Waitrose, Stroud
The Lamb at Eastcombe
Cryogenico
J.E. Clarke Motor Factors
Jon Arnold
Jane Randle
Cotswold Gliding Club
A pilot that said he had not landed in a field of courgettes.
Many thanks to everyone who supported the raffle.
One back, E11 is home...
August 29th, 17:51... and we also have had two turbos return. The landout count is currently at ten. We are hoping for more completed tasks, we wouldn't want people to miss out on tonight’s party. The food is looking delicious.
In the meantime we are watching the rather pretty skies and cooling off, you wouldn't think it's August bank holiday weekend. We are all wearing at least two jumpers, some of us more
